Webinar Description: Many agencies work hard to implement trauma informed care into their operation only to find that this approach is as difficult to sustain as it was to implement. Offering training and agreement among administrators is important, but how do we make sure that the day-to-day interactions in our program utilize the newest brain science to offer effective healing to our clients? During times of stress, employees can revert to a punitive approach which includes blaming, anger and retreat. Vicarious traumatization erodes hope and energy within the workforce. Staff turnover presents another challenge to continuing a trauma informed culture. This webinar will present specific strategies to evaluate current levels of trauma informed care, to improve and sustain treatment, and to maintain an energetic and caring staff. Areas of focus will include: individualized treatment approaches using brain-based competency analysis, changing relationship templates, supervision, increasing a culture of self awareness and mutual support, the role of leadership, and embedding attention to vicarious traumatization.
